It is certainly a very strange time for us all right now. Shelves in the store are bare and everyone is hunkering down in their homes in an attempt to stop the coronavirus.
It its wake, this pandemic is causing major disruptions in our lives and global economies. It seems almost selfish to even mention disappointment of a classic car show being cancelled, but for many, these are events they look forward to all year.
Hopefully this situation will correct itself in the coming weeks and we will be able to salvage some weeks of sunshine before summer comes to an end. Hot August Nights in Reno is still a go as far as we know, but many other car shows have been cancelled or postponed until the coast is clear.
There may be small classic car and truck shows still happening, but we would be surprised if they are. Considering that a good portion of attendees may fall into a more vulnerable age category for the virus.
Here are some of the bigger automotive events we have heard have been affected by the covid-19 outbreak. Be sure to check with each event’s website for future details as they are certainly subject to change.
Goodguys – The entire Goodguys office is shut down for the next 3 weeks, and their first three events of the season have been cancelled or rescheduled.

- Goodguys 11th Spring Nationals, March 20-22 at WestWorld of Scottsdale in Scottsdale, AZ
- Goodguys 38th All American Get-Together, March 28 & 29, 2020 at the Alameda County Fairgrounds in Pleasanton, CA.
- AWAITING CANCELLATION NOTICE: 20th Meguiar’s Del Mar Nationals, April 3-5, 2020, at the Del Mar Fairgrounds in Del Mar, CA.
Charlotte AutoFair – Spring Charlotte AutoFair Postponed to June 12-14, 2020.
The Elegance at Hershey – They have decided to take a hiatus in 2020 but we will keep you informed as to any potential future plans.
The Texas Hoedown – The Facebook event page still shows it as set for March 21, 2020, but we have a funny feeling the event will be cancelled.
Meecum Auto Auctions – The March Gone Farmin’ Spring Classic Tractor Auction and the Houston Collector Car Auction in April are in the process of being rescheduled with our venue partners at the Mississippi Valley Fair Center and NRG Park. The new dates for these auctions will be announced as soon as they are finalized.
There are likely more shows that are being cancelled as we write this. Thanksfully many of America’s greatest classic car events don’t start until June, July and beyond. We hope and pray that the coronavirus is a thing of the past by then. Until then, please be safe and kind to one another so we can all get through this unprecedented situation together.
